Take my breath away
Great video by Audi France. Would have liked it a little better if there are more driving and less talking, but nonetheless, the car is still drool-worthy.

recently seen cool ads
two clever ads seen recently that are my personal favorites:

Brand:Yahoo! Search
Brand Owner:Yahoo!
Category:Internet
Region:U.K.
Date:June-July 2004
Media Agencies:OMD, Posterscope

Full article:
Yahoo had a very clear marketing challenge. A key driver of traffic to the Yahoo portal -- search -- had taken a hit by the rise of Google.

However, the company had improved its search product and it believed that its mix of technology and human input made it better than its rival's. A human face was its point of difference, they argued. This campaign aimed to start the process of recapturing lost searchers. It had to connect with consumers making detailed searches but also to more than 25 million people who use search occasionally in the U.K.

The strategic solution was to reposition the service: Google could have “search” all to itself, but Yahoo would own “found.” This neat insight would then be communicated via big and bold statements -- taking advantage of the fact that the rivals spent most of their budgets online.

Budgetary reasons meant the campaign was London only, a region that indexed highly against the target audience of the wired generation and "executechs." Using outdoor as the key medium, Yahoo decided to personalize each site. The creative developed 12 arrow templates pointing in different directions.

Posterscope sent out photographers to take pictures of each site, and advise if there were any interesting landmarks near by. The gaps in the arrow template would be filled by locally relevant words in order to highlight Yahoo’s ability to accurately find detailed information. In the end, more than 450 different executions were used on 5,495 panels. The strategy was adapted to banners, e-mails and T-shirts. By the fourth week of activity, search views were up 13%.

My second recent favs is The Sak's chick ad campaign. Smart cute chick pics with witty tags by Sloane Tanen. Can't beat that. Granted, The Sak is not one of the usual brand that i pay attention to, but i will now.

reporting in
Heya folks, not sure if many of you still read this blog, since it has been pretty quiet lately with all of us on hiatus.

Couple of major news that happened since the last time i blogged... actually there are only two news.

First of all my super bright yet ultra clueless sister finally finished her undergrad WOOT! Now she can finally get paid to stare into the microscope all day while counting how many cells the little sea creature has... yeah i know i am glamourizing her future career path. Grats lil sis. Now hurry up and get a job. *guffaw*

And second of all, i don't know what has gotten into the southern boy but he actually asked me to marry him. Poor thing, 50 more years of cooking and eating off paper plates... that's what he got himself into ;) haha.

Now we just have to decide on the drive-thru chapels and elvises, and we'll be set.

speed
can't believe it's already been 2 months since A went back. can't believe it's almost 2 years since mike and i came back to malaysia. time flies so fast in KL that i really miss the lexington pace sometimes. since we came back, i've quit a job and rejoined lexmark, went to club med, bought a house, get married, had honeymoons in bali and hawaii, watch my boss get asked to resign, watch my colleague get promoted to country manager, get promoted myself, renovate my house ... and in about a month we'll be moving into our first home in malaysia. i hardly have time to breathe, let alone really take a break and enjoy life for all that it offers. i wish we could slow things down in KL. i envy your lifestyle, A, you get to do the things you love. i don't even have time to stop and figure out what i love doing anymore. hopefully this will all change when we finally have a place of our own. wish me luck!

change
I've been on blog hiatus ever since i went to visit the parents. Now i'm back. In fact, i've been back for 2 months.

Getting a little bit homesick, i don't know why. I envy the lifestyle of the KL-nites. I might not say that in 6 months time but for now i do. I guess i just miss hanging out with Elaine and Diana, they are my comfort zone social circle. If that makes any sense.

Some days i wish i have Holly's courage. Courage to give up the materialistic lifestyle that binds us to our job, and to go and do good to the world and the people that needs it.

Maybe i am depressed because work is so stuck, so stagnant. Ugh.

This calls for retail therapy.

time to spare
Kinda sorta finish up my work early today. It has been too hectic for the past couple of months and I am completely burnt out by this one client project that I can honestly say is probably one of the worst projects I've ever been on.

But as always, work hard play harder. I've been burying most of my awake time between work and Wow. Now i see why the boy is addicted half the time, it is such a stress relief.

I'm proud to say that Klique is now a level 32 holy spec-ed priest. If you read this, ( and VINCE i know you do), come find the boy and i at dalaran if you're not alliance.

In other news, i finally plopped down $1000+ for my plane tickets to visit my parents in KL. I will be on hiatus the last week of sept and first week of oct.

Looking forward to attending Auntie Elaine's wedding, and just hanging out with friends and family. Also will be spending a day and a night in NJ so i can catch up with Pearly and go indulge in some good old girl time.

The ankle is healing. I can still feel the pain but it's getting more bearable. I hope to be able to wear my stiletoes at Elaine's wedding so *pray* i hope when i go see the doctor next week he's going to give me the green light to go air-cast free.

The boy's unit is still on call. The military is even more fickle-minded than us girls. WTH. GTG.

WoW
Ever since I injured my ankle, mobility has been a struggle, although i've shown vast improvement over the past week. The boy constantly reminds me that even though i can walk without the braces i really shouldn't do that too often, because the ankle is still weak and i might break it again.

True. But i hate being stuck.

That is, until i jumped on the Wow bandwagon.

Introducing: Klique the undead priest (yours truly); and Klaque the undead warrior (literally my "better" half).

It was last weekend that i went out and got the PC Gamer 14 day trial, and with Klaque's help Klique is now a level 11 priest.

Like my friend Pearly would say to an arguing couple, "You two should play computer games together..." I think that is very true. Now, i am not in an argument with the boy, but what i enjoy is the sense of teamwork that we've establish since playing this.

Enough blabbering. I need to get back to work. Leaving at 4.30pm for the "Drive For the Cure" event at Plaza. Woo hoo i get to drive the X3 round and round. Heh.
