101 Dumbest Moment
I was devouring this article this morning:
Business 2.0: The 101 Dumbest Moments in Business
#1 is very funny, although I regret to say I've never seen it aired.
Lunch conversation
We were talking about the 80s and Paula Abdul.
Me: "You can see her now every week on TV."
Peter: "Oh gawd, I never watch that show, if I want horrible music, I'll just tape record myself in the shower..."

Life-like
I had an errand to run during lunchtime so Suz and I headed out to the West County mall. We were walking thru JC Penny's ladies and teens department when we both noticed something at the same time:

Suz, subtly pointing at a mannequin wearing a white tank: "OMG, check that out"
Me: "The mannequin has n|pples!"
Suz: "I know! That's what I was pointing at. Wow. These mannequins have certainly come a long way."
Me: "Or it could just be cold in here..."

It's true. Don't believe me? Go check it out yourself.

animal planet
The weather is getting warmer, and geese are coming out of their hibernation / migration, or whatever it is that they do during winter months.

Every morning, right at the entrance into my office building, there are two very fierce geese standing guard. What was it that they're hording in the bushes, I could only guess. Every morning, they'll hiss and people who are walking by trying to get into the building. I usually get by safely because these grey furry birds are too busy hissing at other people.

Not yesterday. No. Yesterday they decided that I was going to be The One.

I was walking towards the entrance, and Mr. and Mrs. Hissy came wobbling up behind me, hissing fiercely as they go. At one point they were so close that if one of them would stretch its neck, it'll peck me in the butt. So I stopped abruptly, spun 180° around, and hissed at them even louder. Both of them took a step back, deep breathe in, and expanded their chest and spread out their wings, and started flying towards me. I literally had to duck to avoid being hit when Mr. Hissy flew over my head with his kung-fu kick.

So today I brought my umbrella with me. Just to be safe. And also because it was raining.
Human behavior
From AdAge.com regarding TV viewers with Tivo on Oscar night:
Most paused
The single most paused or freeze-framed event of the live show was the stage entrance of presenter Julia Roberts.

Most rewound
In a post-event report on the behavior of its more than 600,000 subscribers, TiVo reported that the speeches by Mr. Moore, best documentary winner, and Mr. Brody, best actor winner, were the most rewound and replayed segments of the program.

Mr. Moore, who won for his film Bowling for Columbine, used the podium to angrily criticize the war and the president, punctuating his remarks by shouting "Shame on you, Mr. Bush." Mr. Brody, who won for his performance in The Pianist, presented tearful remarks gently critical of the war.

Nice to know that the American audience got their priorities straight.

Endeavour
If anybody is looking for the soundtrack to the new Mitsubishi Endeavor ad, look no further:

Deutsch/L.A. breaks its latest video-style Mitsubishi spot this week to introduce the 2004 Endeavor SUV. Teasers begin airing today with two 30-second spots breaking later in the week. The effort spotlights the vehicle as seen from the outside, with people in storefronts turning to gawk at the new car.

As always, the soundtrack is supplied by a band that isn't famous now, but will be soon. In this case, the act is Overseer -- a project led by Leeds, England-based producer DJ Dr. Chug, aka Rob Overseer -- and the track is called "Horn Dog." Overseer's heavy techno has previously appeared in commercials for Michelob, Smirnoff and Sony; the features Snatch and Any Given Sunday; and in the trailer for The Animatrix, a series of animated shorts inspired by The Matrix. Overseer's first full-length album, Wreckage, is slated to be released by Sony this month.

Thanks to Christian (who left a comment), I now have the song in my possesion. I'm taking this down. I think there's enough copy circulating on kazaa now.
Invitation
Seeing that we're hosting this week's "thegang monday night dinner", southern boy quickly whipped up a plan on sunday and sent out an invitation, and it is by far, one of the most well written, most informational, yet hilarious email I've read: You're Invited.
Apply brakes when necessary
I'm on a shopping spree. Went to the mall on saturday and bought myself two pairs of black pants. Apparently that wasn't enough to cure my urge, coz during lunch time my fingers were flying over the keyboard typing out shipping and billing info for the three new pair of jcrew pants that I want.

Someone please stop me.

My saturday rocks
The knock on the door first thing saturday morning tells me that the Directv guy is here to install my new dish. Finally, after 4 months of fuzzy, snowy network TV via the rabbit ears (someone broke my dish and I procrastinated in dealing with that matter...) the dish is up and running with all my dish channels + HBO + local channels. I swear I could have hi-five the technician ;)

Then southern boy and I ventured down to Soulard Market and bought meat for cheap. They have really awesome prices compared to what we usually pay at the grocery store. Went and haul a charcoal grill back from walmart as well. And for our only meal of the day, we had pork steak off the grill. Very tender and juicy, southern boy really did an excellent job.

Later that night we joined the STLbloggers at Bailey Brothers Building and Loan Bar and Grill. The place has karaoke, and really cheap beer. It was good fun. Good fun indeed.
