Long awaited entry
I wanted to blog about my month long vacation since I got back to St. Louis, but was bogged down by jet-lag and just plain old laziness. Oh, and not to forget that my computer was quite sick - losing it's memory and etc...
The vacation back home in Malaysia was fantabulous. It coincided with Pearly's as well as my brother Benjamin's birthday. Pearly's birthday was fun, and we were just looking for another excuse to go out partying. We met up with couple of primary school friends, Siau Wei and Siew Siew, and Jee Tung who's in Singapore managed to join us too. And of course we have the indispensable Adrian, and also couple of friends from high school - Faith, Kenji, Eric Low, Pooi Tyng and Jin Keng. Also, there're a whole gang of Pearly's friend that are totally fun to hang out with: Celynna, Danny, Joey, and the one and only Mr. Eric Wong. *cheers my friends*
What struck me as a surprise is that lots of my friends from different circles seem to know each other, I suppose because they all work in the same field: financial services. Most of the people that I know are either in Price Waterhouse Cooper or Ernst & Young or Citibank... I guess that's why. It felt like such a small world. :)
I also get to spent some quality (although not quantity, dang it) time with Faidz. Too bad his girlfriend came back from UK the same time as I did, so he really didn't have much time for me. Hehe. I always enjoy chatting with him, be it serious topic or just everyday chit chat.
SW, Pearly and I spent A LOT of time together walking around town. Seeing that I haven't been home in years, they took me to Bukit Bintang and Central Market for a tour. Or we'll hang out at Mid-Valley mall, or at Bangsar, getting our eyebrows threaded, or we'll be out partying. SW called it: the Yuppies lifestyle. Gotta love it.
So will I ever move back there one day? I don't know. I must say, distance really does make the heart grow fonder. I'll probably never appreciate my friends the way I did this trip back. Maybe being abroad is a good thing after all. Maybe it's all to early to tell.

ps. Elaine: you should definitely try eyebrow threading when you go home in May. I'll give you the directions. It's right above Haagen Daz in the heart of Bangsar.Gawd I miss my friends back in Malaysia.

As it turns out, the keh-leng-kia smell emanates from the big tree planted directly in front of our townhouse. Thanks to David Costa (a colleague at work), I now believe it is a white dogwood tree (Fun Fact: a dogwood is also a flower, and the official flower of Virginia for that matter -- this I learned while watching "The American President"). I've taken some pictures of the tree and its flowers up-close, but we'll have to wait for Angeline to post them before you'll get to see what it looks like.
