My new toy
I promised to help my friend's bf set up his portfolio in Flash. Yeah. Me and my big mouth. I was getting bored during the weekends and I thought, hey, if I can get the dang scrolling menu to work, this might even brush up my actionscripting skills.
So my friend had her bf set up all his art work and place them in the appropriate folders in the library, and then hand me the fla file for me to work on. I found out this afternoon that he's been doing all his prep work on his new Apple Powerbook G4 laptop, and he used some Mac fonts that I don't have the PC version for, and he is absolutely adament that I don't transfer his file from the Mac to the PC. But, I don't have a Mac at home?!
So, he ended up letting me have his entire laptop, power supply, case and all. At first I really needed to get used to it. I had some experience with Mac, being a journalism / communication / advertising major when I was in college, our comp labs are supplied with G4s. But I haven't been using Macs regular since 2 years ago, and I've definitely became rusty. Secondly, I'm totally a desktop person, I need my ergonomic keyboard, mouse, and the 21 inch monitor (or two, hehe). So getting my eyes to roam within the confines of the Powerbook was tough... plus I have no extra space to drag the panels off my movie area.
(Yeah yeah, I know I'm totally spoilt at work, with 2 monitor and each set at 1200 x 1600, I'm so used to having tons of space!)
But it's all good now. I've set up the Powerbook on my coffee table, and I'm watching Screensavers and TechLive while working on the Flash movie. I'm kind of enjoying it - to know that I have the ability to work both on a Mac and a PC efficiently was satisfying to say the least. Who knows, maybe I'll even go get the Powerbook G4 when it's all said and done, just because I got addicted :p. Yeah, like I could afford it. *Bleh*
Oh and yeah, Lenny Kravitz performance was awesome last night. I didn't even know who opens for him till last night, and it was Pink. Although I'm not the craziest fan, it's nice that I'm getting two shows for the night, and it's free. *Thanks Josh* Pink was okay, she played the couple of her singles. She did a cover on the 4-non-blondes hit What's Going On, which was pretty good. Kravitz, on the other hand, is a superstar in his own class. Awesome! And the weather couldn't be more perfect, lower 70's throughout the night.
Gotta get back to my new toy now.
