My new toy
I promised to help my friend's bf set up his portfolio in Flash. Yeah. Me and my big mouth. I was getting bored during the weekends and I thought, hey, if I can get the dang scrolling menu to work, this might even brush up my actionscripting skills.

So my friend had her bf set up all his art work and place them in the appropriate folders in the library, and then hand me the fla file for me to work on. I found out this afternoon that he's been doing all his prep work on his new Apple Powerbook G4 laptop, and he used some Mac fonts that I don't have the PC version for, and he is absolutely adament that I don't transfer his file from the Mac to the PC. But, I don't have a Mac at home?!

So, he ended up letting me have his entire laptop, power supply, case and all. At first I really needed to get used to it. I had some experience with Mac, being a journalism / communication / advertising major when I was in college, our comp labs are supplied with G4s. But I haven't been using Macs regular since 2 years ago, and I've definitely became rusty. Secondly, I'm totally a desktop person, I need my ergonomic keyboard, mouse, and the 21 inch monitor (or two, hehe). So getting my eyes to roam within the confines of the Powerbook was tough... plus I have no extra space to drag the panels off my movie area.

(Yeah yeah, I know I'm totally spoilt at work, with 2 monitor and each set at 1200 x 1600, I'm so used to having tons of space!)

But it's all good now. I've set up the Powerbook on my coffee table, and I'm watching Screensavers and TechLive while working on the Flash movie. I'm kind of enjoying it - to know that I have the ability to work both on a Mac and a PC efficiently was satisfying to say the least. Who knows, maybe I'll even go get the Powerbook G4 when it's all said and done, just because I got addicted :p. Yeah, like I could afford it. *Bleh*

Oh and yeah, Lenny Kravitz performance was awesome last night. I didn't even know who opens for him till last night, and it was Pink. Although I'm not the craziest fan, it's nice that I'm getting two shows for the night, and it's free. *Thanks Josh* Pink was okay, she played the couple of her singles. She did a cover on the 4-non-blondes hit What's Going On, which was pretty good. Kravitz, on the other hand, is a superstar in his own class. Awesome! And the weather couldn't be more perfect, lower 70's throughout the night.

Gotta get back to my new toy now.
Elvis is back?!
Ladies and gentleman, looks like Ricky Lew has finally reappeared from his long-time disappearing act! Ricky!!! I'm so glad to see you've found our website! Where have you been? I heard from Danielle (whom I ran into while I was back in Malaysia in late May/early June) that you are now working in Subaru Malaysia. Are you having fun? You'll have to be sure to keep up with us now, OK?

Unexpected
Just found out that a co-worker of mine has extra free tickets to the Lenny Kravitz concert tonight at the UMB Pavilion (a.k.a. Riverport Amphitheatre). I'm not the craziest Kravitz fan, but I'll definitely like to see his performance. The weather seems pretty nice. Hopefully it'll be a good night out.
Prize possesion: friends!
I was watching The Mole: The Next Betrayal's finale yesterday, waiting for the moment they announce who the winner and the mole are. And so I found out that Dorothy was the winner, and Bill was the Mole! I went, oh shoot, my guesses were wrong. Sure enough, not 1 second later my cell phone started ringing furiously... I picked it up and on the other side Pearly was screaming, "I told you so I told you so, Bill is the Mole!!!" Then we all started cracking up for five minutes there... It was hilarious.

It was definitely a good night, although I totally misjudge who the mole was.

Holly will be flying in this friday to St. Louis - I asked her to join me for the MammaMia! show. I bought a pair of tickets for the saturday show thinking that my default date (Chris, that is) will go with me. But unfortunately, he doesn't like Abba enough to fly into town for that show... so naturally I offered the ticket to my girlfriends, and Holly was the first one that I had a phone conversation with. And she said "Yes" *yippie!* So I'll be seeing her in two days!! Can't wait! :)

My friends are very important to me. I really hope I'm not guilty of neglecting my friends when Chris is around, and only seek them out when I need them. Girls, don't let me get out of line there will you? I know it's a fine line that requires a balancing act, but it's always much easier when we all get to support each other.

Returning to the real world
Boo hoo hoo! It's sunday and it's time to go home. I was planning to leave at 3pm EST so I can get home at a decent hour and in time for me to watch SATC, but instead Elaine and I ended up dilly-dallying after lunch, and finally at 5.35pm EST I finally hauled my sorry ass into the car and headed on the highway home.

I need a good solution for keeping myself awake during these long drive. I don't really drink coffee, so I resorted to Moutain Dew. But, it makes me wanna pee so I had to stop at almost every rest area on my way there and back! That's just such a waste of my time, but I really don't have any choice do I? *Heh* Anyone has a good suggestion of anything I can drink or eat that'll keep me awake (but not destroy my health or make me wanna pee all the time)?

Anyways, I made it home in 4 hours, which I consider to be pretty good, since the distance that I have to travel is exactly 300 miles, I even had time to get gas and give my car a much needed shower at Shell after I got back.

Overall, it was an awesome weekend. Photos coming soon. *Ahem Elaine*
