FFFT
So it's going to be cold this weekend. Assuming that everyone will be hibernating at home this weekend, let's take a poll on what our survival tactics are.
  1. What song would you sing/listen to?
  2. What food would you eat?
  3. What movie would you watch?
  4. If you absolutely have to go out in the blistering snow, where would you go?

Non-Daily Quiz + Answers
Here's something to keep your brain from freezing in the icy cold weather:
  1. Name the general from Virginia who led the Confederate armies in the Civil War.
  2. The Vice President is second to the President. Who is "number two" to a state governor?
  3. Did the American Revolution end with the Battle of Yorktown or the Battle of Bunker Hill?
And here are the answers for the quiz from the day before:
  1. Ronald Reagan
  2. John Adams. He took office in 1979 1779; the White House was completed in 1800.
  3. Paris, France (his flight aboard the Sprit of St. Louis was the first nonstop and first solo transatlantic crossing.)
Soundtracks for ads
I was an advertising major. I keep an eye out for things like this: A site that list the commercials and the song titles + artists that goes with them. Sweet!
Tech support
As most of you know, my dsl ISP bailed out and I had to switched from Directvdsl over to SBC dsl. It was rather troublesome, because there is about a week of downtime for the switch to happen. First, the SBC folks have to let directvdsl know that the order was received and service should be cancelled on directvdsl side. Then, SBC will have to activate dsl service to my apt, while I wait patiently for the modem to arrive.

I've called SBC twice after my initial phone calls because I waited two weeks for the modem and heard nothing from them. This afternoon, I was talking to Steph, "Well, miss Soon, my records are showing that UPS just delivered your modem this afternoon and it has been signed and received." Aha! They must've sent it to the apartment clubhouse.

When I got home at 6.45pm, I saw the new SBC dsl box on the bedroom floor. I woke the computer up from sleep mode, clicked around a little bit, and noticed that the new modem is now sitting on my desk blinking green lights at me. Apparently southern boy was there while UPS made the delivery, and he took it upon himself to crack open the case, plunge in the ethernet, install the software, and reboot the computer in safe mode. 10 times. heh. But in the end he got the dsl up and running real fast, real smooth. He even put the computer case back and packed everything neatly in the box...

What more could I ask for?

Return of the Non-Daily Quiz
Post your answers via comments. Good luck!
  1. Illinois is known as "the Land of Lincoln." Which U.S. President was born there?

  2. Who was the first president to live in the White House?

  3. In 1927, a young pilot named Charles Lindbergh took off alone from an airfield near New York City. Where did he land?
Cravings
I have cravings for two things: Sweet Tomatoes, and Unagi. (No, not both of them together.)

Today is my 'lunch out with lunch buddy' day, let's hope we don't end up at bread co. again. That usually happens when one of us is in a hurry to get back to the office.

I want to go home after lunch, sit on the comfy red couch, and read The Other Couch by Karl Fucci. I want to, but I can't.

This is not my last post for the day. Can you tell I'm bored?

Couple hours later...
Lunch plans nixed. Buddy and I ended up having ceaser salad at the cafeteria. So much for my cravings. Though he did say he'll buy lunch next thursday.... hmm... tachibana on olive maybe?
Warmth for the bitter cold
Woke up to 1º F this morning. It was deceiving because when I looked out the window, it was pretty darn sunny! The minute I stepped outside, I want to jump back into my warm bed.

The news on the radio was reporting wind chill advisory. It's gonna be 10-20º F below zero for the rest of the day, I look up the rear view mirror, darn it, I've forgotten my hat this morning.

I have an electric kettle sitting on a coffee table in my office, it's boiling, and boiling, and boiling...

Then I check my emails, there in my inbox is an email from a long time friend SW. My day is going to be much better now.

An hour later...
In other news: the Kentucky Wildcat's win over the Auburn Tigers yesterday was very reassuring. Oh, and the icing was, Duke lost two ACC games in a row, first to Maryland last week, then to N.C. State this week.
